On Saturday, June 23, 40 local high school students and 10 adult leaders from the United Church of Christ in Medfield woke up at 3 a.m. to board a 6 a.m. flight for a weeklong mission trip to Puerto Rico.
The island continues to face many challenges in the wake of Hurricane Maria last September. The volunteers will help with a variety of hands-on rebuilding and clean-up efforts. The UCC Medfield crew have been preparing for this trip by hosting a series of fundraisers over the past several months.
