Returning for their twenty-first anniversary, Medfield on the Charles, New England’s Premier Auto Show, was held on Sunday, June 25th on Hospital Road. This classic and custom auto show welcomed an array of cars from vintage to brand new.
Those who went to last year’s show said it was the best one yet so this year they wanted to make it even better. Awards were given out throughout the day and for different categories including: Top 100, Best of Show, Runner up Best of Show, Corcoran & Havlin Award, The IMPERIAL CUP, Antonio Jarvis Prestige Award, Tony Jarvis Red Line Award, The Joel Weinstein Memorial Award, and other speciality trophies for exceptional vehicles.
One iconic element of this show was their special feature display, 70 years of Corvette. Almost every year of the Corvette was there and covered all eight generations. Those who were avid Corvette enthusiasts could be seen sporting all of their Corvette specific apparel.
In honor of this event, the Medfield Auto Show website stated, “Twenty-one years ago we never thought we would grow in size and that we would be filling show fields to capacity, but we have done that and exceeded all our wildest dreams. The crowds of spectators get what they hope for when they come through the gate. Many rare and awesome vehicles you rarely see in one location.”
Director and creator for this event, Charlie Harris, could be seen carting from one end of the event to the other making sure everything was in place and guests were having the best time. When speaking with him about this massive event he mentioned, “I started getting ready for this the day after the last one, it takes all year. The weather dictates everything. Right now we would probably have about 350 more cars than we got but the weather was questionable. We would have had over 900 this year. But we got some real real nice cars, we got a three to four million dollar car here. Normally we get about 800 to 900 cars each year, we would of broke records this year but the weather just was not cooperative this year. It’s actually beautiful weather right now but we can’t always assume that would be the case.”
Food trucks lined the event for those who wanted to snack while enjoying the view of some amazing cars. Fresh squeezed lemonade and other beverages were also available for purchase. Overall the 2023 Medfield on the Charles car show was a major success with crowds of people constantly filing in. It’s safe to say that many look forward to next year’s car show here in Medfield.
