Last Thursday, March 16th, The Medfield TV Art Gallery was full of beautiful, local works created by local photographer, Colleen Sullivan.
Sullivan’s works consisted of gorgeous photo prints, displayed on canvases and postcards. Her subject matter included: birds, landscapes, flowers, butterflies, and landmarks in Boston, The Cape, and around Medfield.
This was the first Art Gallery display held at Medfield TV since before the pandemic. Many people flowed in and out to enjoy Sullivan’s works, which were displayed throughout the building.
The photographer was present, happily sharing her pieces with the observers, answering any questions they might have regarding her art. The room had a wonderful ambiance, as the lighting shone perfectly on the prints and instrumental music floated through the air.
When asked about her inspiration to become a photographer, Sullivan stated: “I’ve been doing this since I was a kid; I’ve always loved to take photographs. But the whole nature part is what I really love now, it was what inspired it. It really started 20 years ago, with the seasons that nature provided.” She went on to say that some of the displays were old favorites, while other prints were on the newer side. Her excitement to share her art was apparent, as she wore a smile throughout the affair.
Sullivan has lived in Medfield for the last 35 years. Her love and admiration for this old town shows, as various landmarks have acted as her subject matter. “Whether it’s the sun gleaming off the snow covered Peak house, the golden trees lining Hospital Road in the fall… or snow falling on the Kingsbury Clark Gristmill at Christmastime, when nature paints such a picture, I feel compelled to capture it on film- well, not film anymore, but you get the picture,” Sullivan wrote within her bio for the event.
