The Medfield Public Works Department has announced a new date for this year's Household Hazardous Waste Day. The initial planned date of April 4 was cancelled due to COVID-19. Instead, it will be held on August 29 from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.
Residents with a Medfield Transfer Station sticker can bring hazardous waste items to the town garage, located at 55 North Meadows Road. All materials being dropped off must be known and properly labeled. Materials can be out of their original containers, as long as they are "known" and one of the acceptable wastes. Unknown wastes, if acceptable, will be tested and packed for disposal.
Wastes that will not be accepted include unknown materials, unstable wastes, radioactive waste (including smoke detectors), explosives (including gunpowder, flares, and ammunition), pressurized fire extinguishers, unknown gas cylinders, medical wastes, and substances regulated by the Drug Enforcement Agency.
Wastes that will be accepted include aerosol cans, antifreeze, batteries, bleach, oil-based paint, and more. A full list of accepted wasted can be found here.
