Chris MacLagan graduates from Fire Academy

State Fire Marshal Peter J. Ostroskey, Massachusetts Firefighting Academy Director David C. Evans and Interim Medfield Fire Chief Robert Hollingshead announced the graduation of the 261st class of the Massachusetts Firefighting Academy’s fifty-day Career Recruit Firefighter Training Program on February 26. “This rigorous professional training provides our newest firefighters with the basic skills to perform their jobs effectively and safely,” said State Fire Marshal Peter J. Ostroskey. The Massachusetts Firefighting Academy (MFA), a division of the Department of Fire Services, offers this program tuition-free. The ceremony took place at the Department of Fire Services in Stow, MA.

Firefighter/Paramedic Chris MacLagan joined the Medfield Fire Department in April of 2017. Chris’ extensive training and experience as a paramedic is a vital asset to the department and community. If the Town of Medfield approves moving from a basic EMT service to a fire-based Advanced Life Support System (ALS), Chris along with EMS Coordinator Jeff Bennotti will play a vital role in developing the program for implementation to better serve the residents of Medfield

MacLagan spent the months prior to attending the Massachusetts Fire Academy taking part in an extensive in-house training program at the Medfield Fire Department. The training program included ladder truck, engine and pumping operations and equipment maintenance at the same time responding to calls for service.
