Unity Farm Sanctuary traveled down to Providence, Rhode Island to participate in the annual Rhode Island VegFest. This was the fifth year of the festival and Unity Farm Sanctuary was happy to return to the festival. It is a little known fact locally that Unity Sanctuary Farm is deeply connected to the Rhode Island vegan food scene; their stickers can be seen all over vegan eaters in Providence and beyond.
Unity Farm Sanctuary is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing lifelong care for a select number of ill, disabled, senior, orphaned, or surrendered farm animals.
VegFest is a Vegan Festival that is held each year to promote a plant-based lifestyle. Veganism is a way of life for many who base their lifestyle around the principles of compassion and non-violence. Those who are vegan do not consume or use any animal products, such as meat, dairy, eggs, wool, fur, or leather as they do not believe in the exploitation or cruelty of animals.
There were over 85 vegan restaurants, artisans, retailers, and farms on location in the WaterFire Arts Center.
At their booth, one could find a livestream of the farm to see what the animals back home were up to, information on veganism, how to visit, donate, or volunteer, at the farm, as well as an easy vegan recipe pamphlet to help those that are curious incorporate plant-based dishes into their diet or give ideas to those who are already vegan/vegetarian. Carol and David Brown manned the booth and were eager to share information about the farm to visitors that passed by. Many patrons were enthralled to see the views from the farm and the Browns were more than happy to answer any questions that visitors had about veganism.
To those who are interested in visiting Unity Fam Sanctuary, they offer public and private tours and host events to promote kindness and empathy toward farmed animals.Their extensive Humane Education programs serve students from pre-K through post-graduate levels, as well as Boy and Girl Scout troops, after-school groups, and community programs, including plant-based cooking classes.
