Teens and tweens ventured out to participate in Big Ryan’s Alien Escape Room at the Sherborn Public Library. The premise was simple: the attendees has been abducted by aliens and had the chance to break free if they were able to follow the steps to charge the escape pod.

With only one hour, these abductees had to solve a variety of puzzles and equations to escape. There were five teams comprised of 2 to 4 people who worked together to solve these puzzles.

Each team was placed at a different station; these stations included an electrical center, a prisoner cell, observation area, fuel pods, charge powder station, and the cryo chamber.

All five areas had instructions left behind to help the abductees solve the puzzles within each station. The teams worked quickly and carefully to charge ahead to the next station. Once all five puzzles had been completed, the teams were awarded a decoder. These decoders helped them to decipher the various messages that were left around the community room. As the teams deciphered the codes, they were introduced to various equations that would allow them to solve what the launch code was in order to escape from the space ship. But the tricky part? These teams had to memorize the various parts of the code as they moved along from equation to equation in order to escape.

As the hour ticked away, these teams slowly made their way out of the spaceship and were crowed winners of the escape room. All participants left after taking their photo within the coveted winners frame with a smile upon their faces.

Big Ryan hopes to return to the Sherborn Library in the fall with a Halloween themed escape room. For more information on events such as these, please visit: https://sherbornlibrary.org/
