Student art adorns Town Hall walls

Sherborn Town Clerk Carole Marple and Pine Hill School art teacher Sarah Richards collaborate to bring student artwork to Sherborn Town Hall. Every six weeks, Mrs. Richards carefully chooses several pieces of art to hang in the clerk’s office. “It is a wonderful opportunity,” Marple said. “Our walls are brightened by the exuberant art and we have the joy of meeting the young artists when they come in to see their creations on display.”

Mrs. Marple sends each artist a letter of congratulations for having a piece chosen to hang in Town Hall. She invites the artists and their families to come in, introduce themselves, and view their work on display. “Programs like this one help to bring families into Town Hall,” she added, “and, even if only peripherally, see municipal government at work. It is a happy experience for everyone.”

The artwork currently hanging in the Clerk’s office is from some of this year’s third graders at Pine Hill School. These student artists include Petra Bergstresser, Kavya Dhanagopal, Rose Kim, Henry Luther, and Clare Page. Each of these works features a vividly colored moon and sun complete with dual face, marvelous corona, and imaginative embellishments.

Townspeople who are looking for a reason to smile are invited to stop by the Town Clerk’s Office and enjoy these delightful works of art.
