Recycling Committee announces book donation bin

The Dover Recycling Committee has announced a new book donation bin at the Transfer Station provided by More Than Words (www.mtwyouth.org).

More Than Words is a nonprofit social enterprise that empowers youth who are in the foster care system, homeless, or out of school to take charge of their lives by taking charge of a business. More Than Words depends on donations of books, CDs, DVDs, and video games to grow, thrive and employ and empower youth.

Not only do they learn skills by selling books, but the earned revenue also makes it possible for More Than Words to exist. The revenue not only covers all of the youth stipends, but it also enables MTW to provide workshops that teach the youth how to budget money, plan for education, and build a resume.

The new bin accepts books, CDs, DVDs and video games; it is is unable to accept encyclopedias, VHS tapes, audio cassettes or magazines/periodicals.

Dover joins 15 neighboring transfer stations using this service. Donations will not only keep books out of the waste stream, but will be making a difference in the lives of these young people.
