Local artist Fabio Xavier lives by the quote, “Do what you love and love what you do.”
A talented and thriving painter and photographer, Xavier has incorporated his love for the arts into his daily life and has made it into a career.
Hailing from Santa Adelia, S.P., Brazil, Xavier began painting at fifteen years old. After spending time working on advancing his career in Miami Beach, Xavier relocated to Newton, MA, and now resides in Dover, where he presented a solo exhibition called “The Colors of Life.”
The exhibition on November 30 at the Dover Church invited all Dover residents and art appreciators to view Xavier’s work, which contains both fine arts and contemporary pieces. In the church’s Kraft Hall, colorful portraits and paintings of mandalas greeted the visitors.
In front of a splotchy green, yellow, and orange background, inspirational Mexican artist Frida Kahlo was painted in a traditional portrait style – from the shoulders up. Aside from the massive size of the canvas portrait, the bold details of the pattern on Kahlo’s shirt and the flowers in her hair, along with the pleasant sanguine color of her lips, attracted viewers to the piece.
“Orchidea” displayed a beautiful contrast of colors as pure, white orchid blossoms bloomed across the canvas with a rainbow of colors behind it.
Xavier’s work also tends to lean more towards abstract art, as seen in his mandala paintings. While the mandala pieces look busy upon first glance, one must remember that Xavier created the beautiful blends of colors, shapes, and lines from a once-white canvas.
All of the pieces at Xavier’s exhibition were for sale, and while many of the more intricate paintings came with a heftier price tag, the artist offered quite a few nature-inspired landscapes for those seeking to own an authentic Fabio Xavier painting. Such pieces featured pink and yellow wildflowers, waterfront views, and Xavier’s efforts to capture a stormy sky.
Visitors were also fascinated by Xavier’s fluid painting, which combines acrylic and resin on canvas. Inspired by a fluid artist named Crystal Ma, Xavier began experimenting with fluid art only a few months ago. Based on his acrylic and resin pieces, one would never know he is new to the style.
Bringing a range of painting skills and a keen eye for detail to his work, local artist Fabio Xavier wowed the community and established his passion for art.
