"High School Musical" is set to be performed at Mudge Auditorium on Thursday, December 6, at 6:30 p.m., Friday, December 7, at 7:00 p.m., and Saturday, December 8, at 1:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.
Sherborn resident and director Claire Mackay is recreating "High School Musical" – eleven years later and in a different hemisphere than her first production of it in South Africa – at Dover-Sherborn Middle School, Mackay “loves the energy these middle schoolers bring to this Disney classic. With over 100 talented cast and crew, the audience will be singing along to the songs, appreciate the message, and be entertained by the complex and enormous dances.”
“One of the most challenging scenes has the full cast on stage, bouncing back and forth between the musical’s callback audition, the science decathlon, and the basketball league championship game. It’s very hard to coordinate everyone and the timing is really important,” explained seventh grader Hayden Hoffmann, who plays Taylor McKessie.
All of this action will take place under 65 new LED theatrical lights generously donated by the Mudge Foundation. The new lights are “state of the art and use one third of the energy of standard theatrical lighting fixtures. They can produce any conceivable color of light and change seamlessly from one color to the next.” Technical Director and Dover resident Len Schnabel is overjoyed - come be part of the excitement December 6, 7, and 8.
Tickets go on sale November 10 on www.ticketstage.com and will also be sold at the door if the shows are not sold out. Admission is $18 for reserved seats, $15 for general admission.
