The Dover Foundation is well known for its theatre productions, and for their generous scholarship awards, which are made each year.
They always receive great reviews for their musicals and plays, with recent productions being "Guys and Dolls" (2017), "Pirates of Penzance" (2016), "Oliver!" (2014), and "Barefoot in the Park" (2013).
In spring 2018, the Foundation will take a break from the musicals to bring the community a comedy, their first since "Barefoot in the Park." The play will be "Rumors," another Neil Simon favorite.
Bruce Von-Rosenvinge, who directed "Oliver!" and "Pirates of Penzance" in recent years for the Dover Foundation, will direct this production, with Ruth Townsend assisting him as producer and Lisa Kane as stage manager.
Auditions will be held on Sunday, December 3, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Dover Town House in the Great Room. All who are interested in taking part are invited to come along, whether they have experience or not. For more information on what to prepare for the auditions and the audition form, which must be completed and brought on Dec. 3, visit thedoverfoundation.com.
There will be two rehearsals a week to start with on, Sunday and Tuesday evenings from 7-9 p.m. Rehearsals will begin around early February, with frequency increasing if necessary closer to the performance dates. Performances will be held at Kraft Hall in Dover on Thursday, May 3 (evening), Friday, May 4 (evening), and Saturday, May 5 (matinee and evening).
There will also be ample opportunities for crew members - helping with scenery, costumes, lighting, ticket sales and ushering, etc.
Those interested in helping off stage or looking to find out the plays the Foundation is considering may contact Producer Ruth Townsend with any questions at [email protected]. Further information can also be found at www.thedoverfoundation.com.
