‘Beauty and the Beast’ makes visits

Days before sixty Dover-Sherborn High School students perform “Beauty and the Beast” at Mudge Auditorium, they took their show on the road, visiting the two elementary schools in the regional school district: Pine Hill and Chickering. The elementary school students were delighted to see some of their favorite Disney characters come to life and perform a few scenes from the upcoming show.

Lumiere the Candlestick, played by seniors Izzy Taylor and Charlotte Buehler, and Cogsworth the Clock, played by senior Ben Gaynor and sophomore Antonio Saenz, kicked off the performance in full costume, engaging the students and getting them excited about the upcoming musical. The comedic duo of Gaston, portrayed by seniors Willy Bowen and Matt Charron, and his side-kick LeFou, played by sophomores Bradley Hodson-Walker and Jamie Davis, took to the stage next. Laughter ensued when they performed the hilarious song “Gaston”, complete with silly antics and a fun mug-clanging dance scene with the Silly Girls and the Villagers. For the finale, the children were in awe when seniors Rachel Weise and Arden Caldicott, in the role of Mrs. Potts the Teapot, sang the beautiful and beloved song “Beauty and the Beast” while Belle, played by seniors Jenna Eiten and Marisol Saenz, danced on stage with the Beast, portrayed by Tommy Shea and Sam Thompson.

In addition to the DSHS performance of “Beauty and the Beast”, there will be an art exhibit in the cafeteria for viewing before the show and during intermission for the Friday and Saturday performances. The show will feature the artwork of students from all four schools in the district: DS High School, DS Middle School, Pine Hill, and Chickering.

Show dates are Thursday, March 17, at 6:30 p.m., Friday, March 18, at 7:30 p.m., a Saturday matinee on March 19 at 1:00 p.m., and an evening performance at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased www.ticketstage.com or at the door.
