As part of its 100th anniversary celebration of providing library services to the people of Needham at the corner of Highland and Rosemary on April 30, the Needham Library is asking its users, “Why do you love your library?” Is it the staff, the collections, the building, the open space, or some other reason?
From early April through the beginning of May, library users will be able to answer this question by filling in a book-shaped form that will be available at the Circulation Desk, the Reference Desk and in the Children’s Room.
People should write, “I love my library because….” Including your name is not necessary, although it is not discouraged. Multiple entries are invited. Collection boxes will be located at each library service desk. Volunteers will attach the completed forms to a six-foot, three-dimensional “100” that will be located near the Rosemary Street parking lot entrance for the months of April and May.
The display is designed to encourage people to express their sentiments about the library; focus positive energy toward the April 30 celebration; provide a visual focus for the day and beyond; and offer a tangible and memorable artifact for the 100th anniversary celebration.
This will be an all-day event with events and activities scheduled from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Activities and entertainment throughout the day are sponsored by the Friends of the Needham Public Library and the Library Foundation of Needham.
