With the Medfield High School parking lot overflowing with cars, fans showed out to create an electric buzz on Friday night. Those in attendance were immediately treated to an outstanding rendition of the National Anthem performed by Alora Nardelli followed by an equally amazing game of football.
Medfield rolled to a 3-0 start for the first time since 2017 after a stellar effort on all sides of the ball to take down Hopkinton with a 35-12 victory.
The offensive line, led by seniors Charlie Hurley, Dillon Larkin, Gavin Seitz, Joe Foscaldo and junior Dani Chahine, paired with senior tight ends Jack Gage and Fox Kenney, continues to dominate the line of scrimmage. Their effort allowed the ground game to thrive yet again, led by seniors Brady McCormack and Matteo Benson. The productive Medfield backfield combined for over 300 yards rushing for the third straight week.
McCormack, averaging 17 yards per carry on the season, hit double-digits with 10 rushing touchdowns through three games and added his first receiving touchdown of the season – a 20-yard dime from junior Owen Sokolowski.

Sokolowski was confident behind center from the beginning of the game, throwing for two touchdowns and rushing for another, his second passing touchdown being an electric strike to senior captain Jack Gage to extend the lead.
The Warriors’ offense is now averaging over 37 points per game after putting up 35 points in their third game of the young season.
While the offense has been undoubtedly special each week, the Warriors’ defense had an outstanding game, holding Hopkinton to 218 total yards with only 63 rushing yards. Junior defensive end Dani Chahine racked up his third sack of the season, coming at critical moments in each game, while sophomore Nathan Bills led the defense with 7 total tackles.
Medfield’s defense stepped up in critical situations, including crucial stops on third and fourth downs, several pass deflections by junior Owen Graber, and senior Cian Blake’s tackle at the goal line to prevent a 2-point conversion. The full-team effort resulted in their holding the Division 2 rival to just 12 points.
Benson had quite an impact across all three phases of the game on Friday. He tallied 70 yards rushing, had two critical blocks – one of which assisted in escorting Sokolowski to the endzone on his rushing TD, totaled 5 tackles, and the senior consistently drilled PAT kicks to help extend Medfield’s lead throughout the hard-fought 48 minutes of play.
The Warriors are looking to continue their hot start going into an important road game against Nipmuc next Saturday at noon.
