The IAM Strong Foundation, which seeks to shatter the stigma surrounding teen mental health issues, is pleased to announce its second grant cycle. The grant cycle opened on February 1 and will extend through April 1. Grants will be awarded on or before May 1.
The first IAM Strong Foundation grant cycle took place this past Fall. Three grants were funded, including the speaker series, “The Science of Growing Up,” which was funded in conjunction with the Foundation for Westwood Education.
Through this grant, Thurston Middle School principal Allison Borchers is able to present speaker programming for parents and teachers, which will provide insight into adolescent development and provide strategies for working with kids during this critical time of life.
Another grant, entitled “Building Capacity: PD for the Mental Health Team," funded the attendance of a team of critical staff members from Thurston Middle School at the Mental Health and Education 2015 Conference this past November.
A local girl scout was awarded the third grant, entitled “The End of Silence.” The grant will allow her to produce a movie to raise awareness around the mental health struggles of teens.
The IAM Strong Foundation is looking forward to reviewing grant applications for the present grant cycle and is prepared to award up to $15,000 in grant monies. Grant applications from all local communities are welcome.
Grant applicants must be non-profit organizations or affiliated individuals who share a vision that aligns with the values and mission of the IAM Strong Foundation.
Through their grant cycles, the IAM Strong Foundation seeks to continue to open the conversation about adolescent mental health, to provide support to those who are struggling, and to provide education for parents, teachers, and adolescents.
All applications must be received by April 1, and applicants will be notified by May 1.
Grant applications and details about the grant process are available at iamstrongfoundation.org. Email [email protected] with any questions or requests for further information.
