With Christmas just around the corner, the Committee to Celebrate Sherborn’s 350th Anniversary, along with the Sherborn Community Center Foundation (SCCF) and the Sherborn Lions Club (SLC) hosted a festive “Shop Sherborn” Holiday Market event on Saturday, December 7th. Community members filed into the Sherborn 1858 Town House to partake in some light shopping just in time for the holiday season.
When walking into the building, the “Shop Sherborn” Holiday Market was located on the first floor while a Breakfast with Santa event was hosted on the second. Also located on the first floor was a holiday raffle with baskets donated from Art’s Specialties, Ben’s Construction, C & L Frosty, Dowse’s Orchards, Dunkin’ Sherborn and more.
When walking through the marketplace, multiple local businesses were set up around the room including a Girl Scout’s table, Friends of the Sherborn Library, Sherborn Garden Club, Town of Sherborn and others. What made this market specifically unique was that almost all the vendors were selling Sherborn specific merchandise. Anywhere from Sherborn kitchen towels to embroidered Sherborn pillows could be seen for sale.
Member of the Committee to Celebrate Sherborn’s 350th Anniversary, Abby Fiske, was seen mingling with attendees during the event. When talking with her about this special holiday market, she explained that it was amazing to see the community come together. “The 350th Committee was also missioned with just supporting and promoting every part of town this year,” Fiske stated, “and part of that was putting on a holiday market last year that was a great success. So we decided to do that again this year and partnered with the SCCF to host it here. The SLC then added their pancake breakfast upstairs. It is just another way to have everybody support each other and it has been great. We have had an excellent turnout for a fun community build weekend.”
Also in attendance was Corinne Whitaker, Director of the SCCF, who detailed just how happy they were to do this kind of event for the community. “I had been thinking about having a holiday market,” Whitaker stated, “and then the Sherborn 350th Committee had done something like this last year at the library. So we decided to combine it this year and add the Santa event as well. All three of us were able to put it all together and we are really thrilled to be doing this for the community. We hope to make this an annual event going forward and can’t thank everyone enough for coming out and being a part of this special day.”
This Holiday Market was held between 9 am and 3 pm in which there were smiles and shopping all throughout the morning. It certainly got all attendees into the holiday spirit and even more eager for Christmas to arrive.
