This past weekend, Needhamites were welcomed to take a behind the scenes tour of the community award-winning artists. All around the town, in thirteen locations, the work of over fourty local artists were displayed for the view of the public.

Needhamites, artists, and people from all over ventured out to Needham on this beautiful weekend to take in the various artforms created by the hands of local artists. This unique opportunity allowed attendees to venture around the town, view the works, meet the artists, view artistic demonstrations at set locations, and buy original artwork for their homes and offices. Local artists were excited to meet their visitors and discuss their creative expressions.

The various locations were open both Saturday and Sunday and they ranged from Norwich Road to Central Avenue.

At Norwich Road, the work of Paula Pitman Brown was displayed, at the two locations on High Rock Street, the work of Gail Fischer and Clarie Gerard was out for viewing. On Freeman Place, viewers could hear music produced by the Plugged In Band. While over on Maple Street, the works of Gail Hansen, Joan Onofrey, and Naomi Wilsey Art were shown. On Nehoiden Street, Olenka Arts was shown. Powers Street brought forth the work of Donna DeMaria. Brookline Street presented the work of two artists: Amy Cicala and Peter PiMarzio. Over on Falcon Street, guests could see the work of Mark J. Richards. Capt. Robert Cook Drive displayed the works of JDC ArtStudio.

Thorpe Road showcased a variety of works from several local artists, such as: Steven Branfman, Hilary Hanson Bruel, Liz Gribin, Liz Bailey Nania, Tova Speter, Adina Troen-Krasnow, and Sarah Whitlock. In a similar fashion, on Central Avenue, two locations exhibited a variety of artists, including David Berman, Olga Breus, Daniel Callahan, Berline Choa, Lyuba Filatova, Irina Moroz, Anne E.G. Nydam, Rob Ondo, Corrine Rhode, Gail Sillman, Judith Silverstein, Judith Stein, Laurie Kaplowitz, and the North Hill staff and residents.

The artists greatly ranged in age, as the artwork ranged through a multitude of different mediums. Some of the artistic mediums presented included: acrylic paintings, watercolor, photographs, wooden carvings, wirework, birdhouses, quilts, collages, charcoal, sculptures, pottery, jewelry, mosaics, ceramics, fabrics, and music.

While each work was unique to the artist that created it, all the pieces of artwork had something in common: each piece carried its own stroke of beauty and creativity.
