Sherborn names interim police chief

The town of Sherborn has named Lieutenant David Bento as interim chief, after a unanimous vote by the Select Board. This became effective on Friday, December 4.

A press release published on December 8 by Sherborn's town administrator noted that a Police Chief Search Committee has been formed. Included in the committee are all five members of the Select Board, Fire Chief Zachary Ward, a member from the Personnel Board, an "at large community member," and a seat dedicated to a retired police chief. George Morrill and Vicki Rellas have been elected chair and vice-chair of the search committee.

The committee will meet every other week, on those in which there isn't a Select Board meeting. The procedural discussions are public, but the reviews and deliberations on candidates will be held in private during executive session. All meetings will have a posted agenda available on the town calendar.
