Pet Memorial guidelines

Payment: Publication of all pet memorials is contingent upon approval of payment prior to noon on Monday. Approval will be verified by Hometown Weekly’s billing department.

Deadlines: We formally deadline for a given Thursday’s edition on Sunday at midnight - anything submitted before that deadline will appear in the paper, pending the approval of the billing department. Modifications to previously submitted pet memorials can be accepted no later than Monday at noon.

Length: All headlines will be no longer than 16 characters (not words). Body text will be no longer than 250 characters. For your reference, a character counter can be found here.

Editorial: Out of respect for those who submit them, it is the policy of Hometown Weekly to refrain from editing pet memorials. As such, Hometown Weekly is not responsible for typos or errors of grammar, usage, or content.

Formatting: Hometown Weekly is unable to accommodate specific formatting requests, such as boldfaced, underlined, or italicized text.

Size: All pet memorials will be printed in a space of roughly 1.3 x 4 inches.

Proofs: Hometown Weekly is unable to provide print proofs of pet memorials.

Photos: Photos will be printed in a spot of roughly 1.3 x 1.3 inches. It is thusly suggested that all submitted photos be cropped as squares. Photos should be submitted at high resolution; those that are not will run the risk of blurriness or pixelization. Please note that Hometown Weekly is not responsible for pixelated or blurry photos.

Editions: All pet memorials will appear in all pet pages of a given week’s edition. In the event that an edition is absent a pet section, the pet memorial will appear in the following edition.

Advertising: Please note that all pet memorials may appear on pages that include advertising.
