Car enthusiasts will not want to miss this year’s Dover Library Holiday House Tour, as guests will get the chance to visit a unique “workshop” that is part of one of the properties. There, the homeowner painstakingly rebuilds and restores classic cars. His 1972 Green Porsche 911s (one of only 6 in the world), 1982 Ferrari 308 Quatrovalve Corso Blue, and 1969 Jeepster Commanche will be on view, in addition to his wonderful collection of gas pumps and vintage auto advertising.
The main house was completed in 2014 and was custom-designed for the family of five and their dog. It features and open, airy floor plan with a delightful mix of modern and antique décor. The “boy basement” is the perfect hang-out for the three young boys and their dad, with its collection of sports and music memorabilia, drum set, basketball court, bar, theater, and boxing gym. Autos remain a theme throughout the house, too.
Powissett Garden Club will be creating floral centerpieces and autumnal decor with brilliant feathers and natural elements to welcome the harvest season and celebrate Thanksgiving. Guests will sample pumpkin mousse roulade cake, pear and cranberry galette, tiramisu, maple pecan pie, caramel apple torte, and lemon bars provided by Dessert Works of Westwood.
The Dover Library House Tour will be held on Sunday, November 12, from 11:30 - 3:30 p.m. This marks the 30th year of this popular event, which is sponsored by the Friends of the Dover Library to benefit the library's many programs and services. Advance tickets are available at the library for $35. If any are available, tickets will be $40 on the day of the event. No one under ten will be admitted. Visitors are asked to wear walking shoes.
The event will be held rain or shine. For more information or to purchase tickets online, visit www.friendsofdoverlibrary.com/tickets.
