TOPSoccer participants get their kicks

The Needham TOPS program recently celebrated the completion of its fall session.

TOPS - The Outreach Program for Soccer - is a youth soccer training and placement program for athletes with disabilities. The program is focused on bringing soccer to members of the community with physical or mental disabilities. It is an extension of US Youth Soccer’s directive "to foster the physical, mental and emotional growth and development of America's youth through the sport of soccer at all levels of age and competition."

Lee Popper, Program Director for Needham Soccer, was quick to point out the commitment and passion of the myriad volunteers who made the TOPS fall session so special.

“The captain of NHS, Michael McShane, was one of the participants this year, which I thought was great,” Popper told Hometown Weekly. Having the captain of NHS Boys soccer committing time during the season to represent NSC, I think, is awesome and shows true leadership qualities," he continued.

Though the fall session is over, the community can look forward to another TOPSoccer session beginning in the spring. Prospective participants and volunteers may visit goo.gl/xqkqlC for more information on Needham’s TOPS program.
