Middle school runners in State Meet

Fourteen athletes from the Walpole Middle School Cross Country team traveled to Devens, MA on November 5 to participate in the Massachusetts Middle School State Cross Country Meet.

The team’s top racer of the day was Sophie St. George, who ran in the girls’ 7th grade race. She came in first place with a time of 11:43 for the 1.86 mile course. She broke both the course and class records with her effort, and also qualified to move on to the Junior Olympics regional meet last Sunday in New Hampshire.

The Walpole Middle School Cross Country program is run through the Walpole Recreation Department for 8 weeks from September through early November, coached by Fiona Murphy, Antonietta O’Toole and Chris Lotsbom.
