On Tuesday, October 24, the Needham Community Farm honored six Needham residents with Outstanding Youth Volunteer awards. Honorees were Needham High School students Chloe Misiak, Jack Saunders, and Charlotte Terry, as well as Cambridge School of Weston student Lila Blaustein, Colby College student Liam Butchart, and Villanova student Jeremy Wong. Wong is a recipient of this award for the second year in a row. All of the recipients committed a substantial number of hours to farm work and in addition demonstrated qualities of exemplary leadership. Each brought positivity, energy, curiosity and dedication to their work.

State Representative Denise Garlick presented the awards after speaking with the students. Garlick emphasized how vital the farm’s programs are for the community and thanked the recipients for their generous commitment.

The Needham Community Farm is a non-profit organization whose mission is to deepen the community's connection to nature, the food system, and each other by providing farm-based educational opportunities for learning about sustainable growing and nutrition, increasing access to healthy produce for those in the community who experience food insecurity, and building community through volunteerism.
