Santa to join MFi Angel Run

The Medfield Foundation is pleased to announce that Santa Claus is registered for the MFi Angel Run. The man in the red suit - perhaps a red track suit for this event - will make his grand entrance by special delivery thanks to the Medfield Fire Department at about 11:30 a.m. on Sunday, December 4. Runners and spectators alike will want to see Santa’s arrival through the high school driveway to the 5k fun-run starting line. Santa’s participation is always a welcome treat to the MFi Angel Run, now an 11-year tradition.

Another change of note this year is the unexpected bridge closing on Philip Street, which impacts the USATF certified course. Chief Meaney and race co-chairs Rose Colleran and Susan Weisenfeld were quick to join efforts and re-route the run around the trouble spot. Participants will still be delighted by all the signage, decorations and entertainment that have become tradition throughout the 5k course.

“Thankfully, Chief Meaney contacted us immediately upon learning of the closure. Of course, we were very disappointed, but feel confident that the revised course is a great solution,” said event co-chair Rose Colleran.

This event is truly a community-wide effort by all accounts, from the runners themselves to the countless volunteers who also bake, direct traffic, cheer participants, bag and deliver the commemorative shirts and clean up the course after the event.

“We rely heavily on volunteer support from the community to make this day a success. If you are interested and available there are still many volunteer opportunities at the MFi Angel Run sign up genius link on the Medfield Foundation website,” noted Susan Weisenfeld, race co-chair.

Runners may sign up on race day, December 4, beginning at 11 a.m., although the shirts will be available in very limited quantities. The Medfield Foundation (MFi) is a 100% volunteer run 501(c)(3) non-profit charitable corporation whose mission is to enrich the lives of Medfield residents, build a stronger community, and facilitate the raising and allocation of private funds for public needs in the town of Medfield. The Angel Run is its signature fundraising event.
