Boy Scouts of America, Troop 1, Sherborn, is inviting friends and neighbors from Sherborn to attend an Eagle Court of Honor for Theodore Allen Davidson, David Nathaniel Kennan, and Charles Edward Whittlesey. These young men have recently completed all the requirements for the rank of Eagle Scout and will receive the award at the Eagle Court of Honor ceremony to be held on Sunday, March 18, at 1:00 p.m. at the Pilgrim Church in Sherborn. The rank of Eagle is the highest award in Scouting and is earned by less than 4 percent of Scouts.

These three scouts have earned at least 21 different merit badges, including thirteen Eagle-required badges. Each scout has also held numerous leadership positions within the troop, performed many hours of community service, and organized and carried out an Eagle Leadership Service Project for the community with help from fellow scouts in Troop 1.

Teddy Davidson designed and built three red cedar benches with backrests for the children and teachers to use in the playground at Pine Hill Elementary School in Sherborn. He also repainted the large-scale map of the United States, as well as the four square and hopscotch outlines on the pavement of the playground.

David Kennan designed and constructed an information kiosk at the Pine Hill Cemetery in Sherborn. The kiosk has a cork board, which is covered in Lexan glass, that holds a map of the cemetery, allowing visitors to navigate the cemetery more easily.

Charles Whittlesey restored the outdoor chapel, which has been out of use for more than 20 years, at Camp Haiastan in Franklin. He built new pews and a railing along the edge of the clearing and cleared and redefined the paths to the chapel.

These are the latest three Eagle Scouts from Sherborn Boy Scout Troop 1, which has been serving the town of Sherborn for over 80 years. The troop is comprised of boys from grades 6 through 12 and is led by an elected Senior Patrol Leader. The troop is supported by many active adult volunteers and is financially self-supporting.

The mission of the Boy Scouts of America is to serve others by helping to instill values in young people and to prepare them to make ethical choices over their lifetime to achieve their full potential.

The town is invited to gather at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 18 at Pilgrim Church in Sherborn to congratulate Teddy, David and Charles on their outstanding achievement and to thank them for their contributions to our community.
